Overview
Health testing is part of our ongoing commitment to biosecurity, transparency, and responsible colony management. It provides routine laboratory screening of our breeding colony to help monitor overall health and inform breeding decisions.
Who Is Tested
All breeding rats.
What Health Testing Does NOT Mean
A disease-free colony, or an elimination of all health risks in rats.
Laboratory
Testing is performed through Research Associates Laboratory (RAL), aveterinary diagnostic lab specializing in rodent health monitoring
Testing Frequency
Routine testing occurs at least annually. Additional testing may be performed based on: colony management needs, new introductions and biosecurity monitoring requirements.
What We Test For
-
Respiratory disease
-
Viral infections relevant to laboratory and companion rat populations
-
Bacterial pathogens of concern in group-housed rodents

Exact panels may vary based on lab recommendations and colony needs.
Transparency
We prioritize clear communication and responsible interpretation of all laboratory findings. All testing results will be listed on our website.
