Here is a little behind-the-scenes look at where our rats are raised and cared for!
As a closed-door rattery, we do not allow in-person visits. This policy helps protect our animals from outside germs and stress, and keeps their environment peaceful and predictable.
While we know many people love the idea of meeting the rats before adopting, we believe their safety and wellbeing always come first.

That said, we love sharing photos and updates, so you can feel confident knowing your future pets are raised in a clean, attentive, and loving environment. All of our cages feature ample water bottles, food bowls, enrichment items (which are constantly changed), litter boxes, and climbing space.

**Please note: Some of the photos below are from during a cage clean and do not include bedding, fabric items, toys, food or the rats themselves! Just a bare cage.

Our female resident rats are housed in a triple-stacked Midwest Homes for Pets Critter Nation cage.

The cage features three large levels, each with their own bundles of enrichment. The bottom level features an extra-large dig bin.

Our male resident rats are housed in a triple-stacked Midwest Homes for Pets Critter Nation cage.

Our rat pups start in small nesting cages (red bottom). Moms are placed in these cages when close to giving birth. They will remain in these cages for 1-2 weeks before moving on to the larger, grow-out cages. These cages ensure the safety of both mom and pups, and allow us to keep a close eye on things without being too disruptive!

The grow-out cages (blue bottom) include a hammock, wheel, and lots of room to grow and explore! Rat pups typically move on to their forever homes before outgrowing these cages -- but if they don't, they join the resident rats in the main cages.
I also use the grow-out cages when pairing males/females together. A pair will stay in the cage for ~10 days together for breeding purposes.
