Here We Grow Again

Things are changing at Forest City Rats, and in a good way! As the rattery continues to grow, you may notice a few updates around here that reflect how much I’ve evolved over the past year and where FCR is headed next.

Expanding Rat Lines

One of the most exciting updates for 2026 is the expansion of my rat lines. This year, I’m introducing rex genetics into my dumbo line, with the goal of having pups available around May/June.

More Structure & Transparency

As the rattery grows, so does the need for clarity and organization. I’m always looking for ways to reduce pain points and make the purchasing process smoother for everyone.

To help with that, custom birth certificates now go home with every rat. These include important details such as date of birth and parentage. (For clarity, this information is always listed in each rat’s sale description, so nothing should ever come as a surprise at pickup.)

For orders of two or more rats, buyers will also receive a small take-home goodie package containing the birth certificates, a small cage accessory, and a few rat-themed human accessories.

For orders of four or more rats, the take-home package is expanded and includes a rat-themed tote with a small bag of Oxbow food, birth certificates, a cage accessory, human accessories, and a carrier for safe transport home.

Package contents may vary slightly, but each is thoughtfully put together to make the transition home more informative and a little more fun.

New Automated Follow-Ups

Community feedback and long-term updates are incredibly important to me, so I’ve added two new automated touchpoints for 2026:

• Feedback forms will now be sent automatically 5–10 days after an order is marked as fulfilled, giving buyers an easy way to share their experience with FCR

• 60-Day Check-In emails will also be sent automatically to see how FCR rats are doing

Pricing Adjustments

There has been a price adjustment. With increasing demand and a clearer understanding of the time, care, and effort that goes into responsibly running a rattery, prices now better reflect the true cost of maintaining the level of quality I strive for.
