Profits Vs. Ethics

ree

Making a profit doesn’t mean sacrificing ethics. Money can feel like a tricky topic when it comes to animals. Many assume that earning a profit means being greedy or unethical, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Running a rattery properly takes a lot of time and effort. From clean, enriched housing to careful breeding and health monitoring, there’s more behind the scenes than most people realize. Profits make it possible to maintain high standards and provide the care these animals deserve. Without them, it simply wouldn’t be sustainable.

Earning money doesn’t equal greed. It’s about supporting quality care, continuing a responsible breeding program, and making sure the work can keep going. If I were paying out of pocket just to breed, it wouldn’t make sense. A sustainable income lets me focus on doing this right, not cutting corners.

In short, profits are a tool, not a moral failing. They allow me to prioritize ethics, care, and the long-term health of the rats. Being responsible and making a living aren’t opposites; they go hand in hand.
